RECYCLING

MAPS considers the preservation and conservation of the environment a social responsibility and has implemented a strategic policy designed to serve as a unifying vision to our business partners and customers of measures taken by the company in the implementation of its commitment thereto.

Education.  MAPS is committed to providing direction and education to its personnel regarding its environmental programs and initiatives through regular meetings.  Employee participation is essential for theory to be put into practice in the implementation of the company’s recycling strategies and programs.  The company remains committed to ensuring its resolution for the consistent implementation of this policy by instilling a personal and intrinsic responsibility of each employee toward the environment.

Recycling and Reuse.   MAPS’ approach to recycling covers a substantial portion of the product’s lifecycle, including equipment donation and consignment resale programs, equipment disassembly to maximize reusable parts and consumable recyclability, and materials recycling.

  1. Equipment donation.  MAPS believes in the intrinsic value of reputable and worthy charities of various causes with an emphasis on those which benefit our children.  Because our children are our future leaders, the provision of our support and social responsibilities toward their development and wellbeing is required.  Accordingly, MAPS donates refurbished equipment annually to many worthy charitable organizations and in doing so, extends the asset life while benefiting those who help our communities.
  2. Equipment consignment resale programs.  Because the peripheral needs and strategies of various organizations vary, document output equipment removed from the working environment of our customers may at times be resold on consignment to other, existing clients whereby extending the equipment’s lifecycle.
  3. Equipment disassembly and de-manufacturing for reuse. Our technical staff and recycling partner channel are committed to recycling used equipment through disassembling procedures to maximize reusable parts and consumables. These parts and consumables are refurbished, remanufactured, and rebuilt to meet or exceed expected OEM specification standards. The aluminum, plastic, metal parts, and shipping material not designated as reusable by our technical staff are collected and sent to our local and domestic recycling partner channels for proper disposition.
  4. Toner cartridge recycling and remanufacturing.  Our remanufactured toner division operates with the philosophy that “repeatability produces credibility” and operates with the strategy of producing the highest quality of remanufactured toner cartridges available.  The end result is a toner product output that will meet or exceed the life cycle and yield specifications of a new OEM cartridge, all of which enables the customer up to a 50% savings for the unit, a cost savings per page, and an environmental savings.

In general, approximately 85% of peripheral equipment can either be reused or recycled.  Accordingly, our strategy is intended to preserve the wellbeing of our environment and its use by future generations.  MAPS believes that going green is not only a choice, but a responsibility for all.
